About
Ariadne Kritonos is an artist whose unique style is inspired by Greek folk motifs and shapes of the 18th/19th century.
She is fascinated by their symbolic meanings and what they represented to the women who wore or embroidered them.
Her goal is to bring them out of the archives and into our everyday lives.
Ariadne grew up in Athens, Greece. Then, in her early 20s she moved to London where she lived for over a decade before moving to Connecticut, USA where she currently lives and creates.
She has two bachelors degrees in Fashion Design and Fine Art and a masters in Arts Administration from Goldsmiths university of London.
A major part of her life has always been Greek folk dancing, which introduced her to the endless beauty of Greek folk clothing, jewelry and embroidery from a very young age.
One of Ariadne’s proudest achievements is working as the dance teacher of the performance team of Lykion ton Hellinidon of London for 8 years.
